Now, going by the title of this column, one could literally write a digest on the lies our nation’s leaders have fed us throughout the years.

This writer chooses to focus on a few of the "sins of empire" that have really ruined our nation’s economy, international prestige and yes, even our security. With but another anniversary of the events of 9/11 approaching, it is time to once again "rattle the cages" for truth once more.

The Friday Aug. 29th USA Today headline, right out of an Orwellian novel, in bold and dark print:

Russia Lied!

What the accompanying article did not cover at all was Russia’s fixation with having NATO and its WMDs chin up to its border. Factor in that The Ukraine had a coup de'tat, replacing its democratically elected president with one supported by Neo Fascists (Neo Nazis?). The entire situation is now a mess, plain and simple.

What escapes most Americans is the fact that from late 2002 through early 2003, the Bush Gang conducted a campaign of "lies and misinformation" concerning Iraq and WMDs and Iraq and Bin Laden (Al Qaeda). The entire world press and those in our American alternative media knew that the Bush Gang was lying and frightening the public.

Remember Condi Rice (treasonous war criminal?) who is actually on the committee to choose NCAA football playoff teams, stating that “We don’t want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud!” The entire Bush Gang was out there, for months, selling the lie that Iraq and its dictator Hussein was preparing to nuke us all. Guess what?

The great American "free press' marched lock step with them right into Baghdad. When the smoke cleared, and tens of thousands of Iraqi civilian’s bodies stank in the desert heat, the mainstream media had no choice but to print a portion of the truth, neatly buried somewhere on page??? Did they ever fully reveal the truth about Colin Powell’s "dog and pony show" at the UN?

On March 19, 2003, the die was cast. This writer remembers vividly little Katie Couric walking through the halls of wherever the hell she was and exclaiming “Marines Rock.“ Aaron Brown, hacking the party line on CNN, and Lester Holt, doing the same on MSNBC, did their best imitation of Nazi Germany’s Die Wochenschau as they covered the Shock and Awe attack and invasion of Iraq.

The Tass & Pravda editors during the Cold War would be so proud of our news anchors and embedded propagandists AKA reporters. You see, Big Lies have to continue in order to keep the serfs here at home satisfied that we are "under attack" and need this protection. And so it is…

Our nation’s economy is in tatters. Cities like Stockton California and Detroit are bankrupt. My small city here of 60,000 is part of a county library system that has operated on 66 percent of its original budget… for seven years! America’s roads and bridges need repairing. The entire infrastructure of our nation is crumbling as more than 50 percent of our tax dollars goes for military spending.

 You drive through your city or town and see so many license plates celebrating our military… as if we are entrenched in another WW2. We are not! All the sporting events everywhere begin with the honoring of our "fallen heroes and warriors"... and not a word for the fallen victims of our nation’s illegal and immoral invasions and occupations.

Yes, we should help those poor (and many are from poor backgrounds) young soldiers who are now without limbs or eyes or even worse. They should be nursed back to health like you would your little child or family pet… with tender care.

And, those who lied and deceived to send them into those hornets’ nests in the desert should be indicted and prosecuted as war criminals! Instead, these evil and greedy people write books (Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney. to name a few), become judges (Jay Bybee), professors (John Yoo), Deans of Law Schools ( Alberto Gonzales ), Political Science teachers (Condi Rice), visiting scholars at think tanks (Paul Wolfowitz at American Enterprise Institute), member of the steering committee for the Bilderberg Group (Richard Perle). Not one has ever been indicted or convicted of "crimes against humanity" or for treason by lying us into a phony war! 

Richard Nixon, on one of the many tapes of his secret conversations, when discussing the Watergate cover-up said: “It’s the LIE gets you.” Perhaps it is time for we the people of this great nation of good souls to demand that the "Liars who took us into this dark hole of fallen empire" have their day in court. There is no statute of limitations on treason, is there?
