Black America, It's Time To Grow Up (Eran Reya)
Oct. 17, 2007 (World News Trust) -- The problem with Black America is that it has faith in a system that has never had anything but bad intentions towards it. With that being said, we continue from generation to generation to become disillusioned with a system that does not operate on a level playing field. Yes, the ideals of hard work, fairness, and equality sound nice, but they are a facade, nothing more, and have nothing to do with the nuts and bolts of how America works.
The recent events surrounding OJ, the JENA 6, and Bill Reilly are perfect examples of White Americans taking the opportunity to reinforce the point that Black Americans can not, nor were never intended to be, full participants in the American system. First, recent re-arrest is an opportunity to reinforce the idea of white privilege in the American system. OJ used money and good legal representation to receive an acquittal. Black America celebrated to the chagrin of White Americans. Why? Because it exposed the flaws in the system. Most Black Americans have no real allegiance to OJ, but the fact that he beat the system while exposing its flaws were cause for celebration. Money, power, and advantage always trump justice. He used the system by using his economic advantage which is a loophole that a black person is not suppose to have. Justice is not blind in America. OJ has now provided the White American lynch mob with another opportunity to apply justice. In the JENA 6 case, the DA's resistance to reducing the charges fall under the idea of White Divinity covered in my book, The Death of Black America. Reed Walters earnestly believes that those black youths are more of a threat to society than the white youths that attacked a black male in the same town that led to the JENA 6 cases. Only misdemeanor or no criminal charges were filed against the white assailants.
For example, Reed Walters believes that blacks are innately animalistic and must be managed and controlled. This explains his comments about Jesus Christ protecting the town of Jena during the protest on September 20th. In Walters mind, Jesus Christ essentially kept the animalistic tendencies of blacks in check, thus protecting the town.In the case of Bill O'Reilly's comments, his surprise that blacks could behave with civility fall under the Parameters of Blackness and White Divinity, both covered in The Death of Black America. O'Reilly, Reed, and much of White America hold the same ideology, that Black Americans are sub-humans with animalistic tendencies who have no discipline or self control. And in dealing with animals, discipline must be harsh and swift. Deep down many whites believe that Blacks have to be managed like animals, and an example of this is the two-tiered justice system. Black on White violence will always be prosecuted more harshly than White on Black violence.
Nor can you do enough to change the racist ideology held by Bill O'Reilly, Reed Walters, or the OJ lynch mob. The racial perceptions of Black America held by White America will not change, nor will demonstrations of merit win respect.
So Black America, take the American ideology with a grain of salt and move on. Keep demanding a fair shake, but don't ever expect it. Meanwhile don't preoccupy yourselves with being accepted into a system that only included us as unpaid labor and tangible assets. Expecting America to make good on promises is essentially a pimp and whore relationship. The pimp tells the whore she must earn his love and she sets about selling her ass in the hopes that the pimp will eventually say you've done enough, I love you now, you're my bottom bitch.
Black America, it's time to grow up and realize what you're dealing with, and once you've accepted the situation for what it is, you will stop feeling a whore's anger and disappointment. With this acceptance, begin to use the American system to your advantage instead of continually being blind-sided by racism, unequal justice, and hypocrisy from generation to generation.
Chris Rock said it best, "To Black people America is like that uncle that paid for college, but molested you."

Eran Reya was born in 1971 in Virginia. Both of his parents worked for the Federal Government in Washington D.C. His summers as a child were spent with his grandparents in the countryside. From these experiences he was influenced by rural African-American culture and learned outdoors skills such as farming, shooting, and horseback riding.
In second grade he was diagnosed with a learning disability and placed in special education for three years. The teachers found that he had a love for learning and quickly completed his class work by mid-day. As a reward they allowed him to spend the remaining half of his day in the elementary school library reading. At the library, Eran began reading about the Civil War which led him into his life-long study of African American history.
While attending college in Virginia, Eran continued his independent study of African American literature. It was also in college where he began to see the identity issues and social problems of the Black Bourgeoisie and the Black masses. During his college years, he read works by authors such as: Carter G. Woodson, E. Franklin Frazier, W.E.B. Dubois, Booker T. Washington, and slave narratives.
In 1994, after graduating from college, he ended up in Atlanta, GA working full-time and writing screenplays and short stories in the evenings. This is also when he began his study of the Bible. In 1995, Eran witnessed Freaknic and Dayton’s Black Beach Week. The events he witnessed on those trips troubled him and lead him to a deeper study of the Bible in an attempt to better understand human nature. It was at this time that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
After relocating back to the Washington D.C. area, he began working in television production for a major news network. He continued writing screenplays and short stories which were never sold or published. While working in D.C., he watched the continued decline of the black community. In 2006, he began research to understand the root causes of the decline of Black America. He found that the biggest problem affecting Black America is the identity crisis of Black males. The Death of Black America is his first published book.
He currently resides in Virginia with his wife and two sons.
