America: It Can Only Be Called A Third World Nation (T.P. McWhorter)

  The fact that the children of America travel to other countries with their parents and embrace the negative, ignorant, criminal, and downright ugliness of thug music and the culture it represents shows the rest of the world that the American way, or American dream is not only a lie, but a laughable way of life. Growing up in America during the 50's, 60's and 70's, the music then was intelligent as well as revolutionary. The music of the late twentieth century that went from speaking out for what is an ideal of a better world to become dominated by the music of America today is starkly different because the complaint it makes answers the problems by embracing of negative cultural vanity and criminality as the way to be, along with the criminal element of murder and theft and hardcore drug use.  The music of America is a trickle down theory as Ronald Reagan once proclaimed his plan of economics in his administration.

   Because the American government, in the eyes of the world, both in and outside of America, has been filled with criminals, immorality, wrong policies, and so many hypocrites, the only thing that could happen, and this is by example, is that American music has become what its leaders are.  And because of the embarrassing 'thug life' embraced by so many in America, the USA has fallen away from inventing, from industry, and is rampant with vanity, consumerism (and any "ism" is wrong), and complacency, America today is becoming a third world nation that is slowly falling further and may not be able to bounce back from the ignorance, hypocrisy, and illegal actions it has become so enthralled with for a long time. 

   The rest of the world recognizes America as being the nation with the most prisoners in its jails, but it is a strange coincidence that nothing is done to stop the illegal actions of the few people that run America by virtue of lies, deceitful action, and illegal crimes committed by the government. The U.S. presidential campaign allows lies to be perpetrated on the candidates, and any nation that allows scandalous acts to be a way of picking their leader is merely acting to destroy those that they wish to represent eventually. If America had any greatness it has been lost by the mere action of allowing lies and slander over those who have worked for years to gain their status and respect when they try to run for office. Of course it is common knowledge that in the first 100 years of America being a country, that mudslinging was part of campaigning and it has not gotten past that and that is grotesque.  Back 100 years ago so many other wrong things existed in America like women not being able to vote, Jim Crow laws, no electricity in most homes, etc., and mudslinging should have been left behind along with the Jim Crow laws, puritanicalism, etc. 

   I remember during the 1970's that channel 11 in NYC would have editorials during cartoon time in the afternoons.  And the reason for those editorials was a little law called the "Fairness Doctrine".  The Fairness Doctrine gave both sides of an opinion so that a choice could be made by knowing the pros and cons of both sides.  During Reagan's administration that doctrine was tossed out to leave way for Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, and many others including FOX News and  more to go unchecked in the damaging propagandistic misrepresentations it has been spewing as gospel for years, completely unbalanced, unfair, and grossly negative, as well as illegally wrong.  And my comments here are not to garner leftist ideals, but to bring America back to the simple middle, a moderate thought, a place where both sides are represented fairly, and a place where modern ideas are embraced not ridiculed.  I sit here on the island of Malta and wonder what other heinous travesty will come next as America, the once great nation, falls further and further from the truth and goes deeper into debt, embarrassment, and embraces wrongfulness.  I hope I am wrong but know I am not, and if half of what I wrote here is correct, then America has a long road to recovery.

  T.P. McWhorter was born Talbot Porter McWhorter in Jefferson City Missouri on July 23rd, 1941.  He was born the fourth of seven children including two brothers and four sisters.  McWhorter's father, Leopold, the first born son of Scottish immigrants, was a railroad man who travelled up and down Missouri train lines making repairs and handled upkeep for the lines throughout the state.

  Leopold fought in WWI as a foot soldier for the United States from the beginning of the war to sometime in 1917.  It was during that time he developed the skill of engineering to become a railroad technician.  By the time T.P. was born, Leopold was not home much and McWhorter's mother mostly raised T.P. and rest of the the family and took care of their small farm.  McWhorter's mother, Katerina, was born in the Ukraine and met Leopold after WWI in Philadelphia in 1925 when Leopold was working for the railroad there.  Besides running the small farm where they raised a couple of cattle, chickens and some sheep for family food, Katerina worked as a washer woman who was brought the clothes of the local upper class residents of Jefferson City.  She was well-loved around the town, and Leopold was the most respected train technician that ever worked on the line.  Both died tragically during a weekend vacation when their climbing harness rope snapped while the two were shackled together on the sheer face of a small mountain in Colorado.  They fell nearly a thousand feet before they hit the ground.

  It was T.P.'s oldest sister, Griselda, who became the head of the family after news of the parents' demise reached the farm by telegram.  T.P. was emotionally crushed at not being able to say goodbye to his mother whom he was always close to.  He developed obsessive compulsive behavior including repetitive handwashing remeniscent of Howard Hughes, and the paranoid agoraphobic behavior that confined Jim Backus to his home for years.  Writing became T.P.'s world where he lost himself in pages of unending fantasy.  T.P.'s stories of imaginary worlds, characters that were riddled with obsessions and addictions, dominated the boy's life for seven years before he was forced from his home when Griselda sold the family farm out of selfishness to spend money on fancy clothes and shoes.

  After the farm was sold, T.P. and his two brothers moved into a small house.  His brothers supported him as he still remained an agoraphobic obsessive hand-washer, and soon developed other paranoid delusional behaviors that included a great fear of transforming into anything other than who he was already, which is symptomatic of the hand-washing compulsion, and also a hatred for odd numbers.  It was only when his brother Utgrad came home drunk one night and fell asleep smoking and the house caught fire that snapped T.P. back to reality after he saved Utgrad and his other brother Remo from their imminent deaths.  Like being splashed with water while in a daze, the fire was a wake-up call to T.P. and he immediately lost all of his compulsions as he embraced life to the fullest and became an adventurer, traveller,  and writer.  For the last several years, T.P. has been living on the island of Malta writing short stories and doing archeological digs trying to uncover the link between the Maltese people and the mythical island of Atlantis.
